Research & Adventure
The creation of these works begins in the physical world with traditional landscape photography practices. Research involves digitally scouting iconic or remote locations with Google Earth, identifying specific atmospheric conditions and optimal time of day to capture the essence of a place.
A meticulous on location photo shoot follows, where Kyle Pero captures up to 1,000 traditional photographs or high-quality video sequences of the location to serve as the foundational data for the reconstruction.
The resulting photo set covers as much detail of the location from as many angles as possible to help create the most accurate data set possible.
02
The Technological Bridge
To transform these photographs into a navigable three-dimensional environment, Kyle utilizes a cutting-edge technique called 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS). The source images are first analyzed through software like ColMap or Postshot to triangulate millions of data points in 3D space.
The system then trains on this data to fill the environment with splats, which are semi-transparent ellipses with specific size and color properties.
This process transforms the original scene into a three-dimensional photograph that can be explored from angles that would be physically impossible to reach in the real world.
03
The Moment of Collapse
The core soul of the work is found through virtual cinematography. Kyle deliberately navigates the virtual camera into areas of the 3d model where the digital data collapses or becomes unstable. These are areas where the original captures did not fully penetrate.
It is in this beautiful error that photographic detail gives way to an impressionistic rendering.
Every composition is personally discovered and refined by the artist to ensure the work maintains its unique emotional resonance. The number of unique compositions that can be created from a single capture set is potentially infinite.

The Master Print: Uncompromising Quality
To transition from digital data to a luxury fine art commodity, the final works are produced with an unwavering commitment to craftsmanship. We utilize world-class Hahnemühle Fine Art paper, a German manufacturer with over 400 years of expertise. Every piece is printed on 300gsm Photo Cotton Rag using archival inks to ensure exceptional depth, clarity, and museum-grade longevity. The process concludes with a ritualistic final inspection, color balancing, and hand-signing by Kyle Pero to guarantee the authenticity and professional credibility of every edition.
